About this Event

The HD Research Continuity Student Council presents:

Are you frequently anxious about your research journey? Do you feel that you want to get more out of your supervisory meetings? Have you been uncertain about how to prepare for meetings with your supervisors the most effective way? Many of us have been!

Being a research student is stimulating and exciting, but, as we are building our future careers, it is normal to become anxious about our journey.

We are NOT alone.

Join us for a fortnightly discussion with Professor James Arvanitakis.

This will be informal and conversational series open to all but specifically targeted for international research students.

● June 1: Preparing for supervisory meetings

● June 15: Working with my panel

● July 6: Leading my CoC

● July 20: When my research is not going well / Setbacks

● Aug 3: How to work when intimidated by supervisor

● Aug 17: Preparing for my first public engagement

● Sept 7: Looking for the next step

● Sept 21: Leading my first paper

● Oct 5: Working as an academic

● Oct 19: Special one on pre-arrivals - Victoria Jones

James will open the forum by sharing his experiences - both positive ones and those less so - for the first 15~20 minutes. This will lead to a group discussion as we try to unpack the issue of the day and contextualise it to the current state of the world. It will also endeavour to open up the meetings for more general questions you may have.

WHEN: 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm on the first and third Monday of every month

The first few sessions will be live via zooming: details will be shared via email after you register it.
