Course Description

This online training session is for staff from NSW schools participating in NAPLAN Online school readiness test 2020 who have not previously attended NAPLAN Online face to face training and have been nominated to be test administrators for SRT 2020.

The NAPLAN Online test administrator training comprises two parts.

Part 1: eLearning module (45 minute)

The prior learning eLearning module is available on MyPL to government school staff here. For non-government school staff, please email your details to naplan.nsw@nesa.nsw.edu.au to receive instructions to register for NESA's online learning management system, Canvas.

Part 2: Live online training (2 hours)

This online training workshop focuses on the role of test administrator for the School readiness test 2020. It is expected that, following this course, participants can:

  • understand the responsibilities, and perform the duties, of a test administrator
  • identify and locate the range of resources available to prepare for NAPLAN Online and support in-school training.

The course will provide:

  • information on managing and administering a test session to prepare for NAPLAN Online School readiness test
  • comprehensive hands-on training within the assessment platform on test administration features and functionality.

Who should attend?

You should attend this training if you have been nominated by your school principal as a NAPLAN Online Test administrator and have not previously attended NAPLAN Online face to face training, or you would like to attend the training as a refresher. Staff taking on multiple roles, including NAPLAN Coordinator, are recommended to complete the full-day training session; Introduction to NAPLAN Online and SRT 2020.

An email with a link and information on joining the session will be sent to you two the days before before the training. Please connect to the session 10 minutes before the scheduled start time in order to check your technology is working and obtain access to the online assessment platform.

Is there any pre-requisite learning?

Prior to participating in the live online session, you should complete Introduction to NAPLAN Online and SRT 2020 – Part 1: eLearning module (45 minute). This eLearning module is available on MyPL to government school staff here. For non-government school staff, please email your details to naplan.nsw@nesa.nsw.edu.au to receive instructions to register for NESA's online learning management system, Canvas.

What will I need?

Attendees are recommended to have a second monitor so that the workshop training and participant working screens can be displayed simultaneously. Alternatively, whilst not ideal, you can split your application windows onto a single display to work from or use a 2nd device (such as a tablet or smartphone) to interact with the meeting.

Can I enrol in any session?

Participants may enrol in any training session, however, it is highly recommended that test administrators from the same school attend training at the same session in order to engage in collegial discussion related to their personal school setting. This will help to consolidate learning.

What if I need to change or cancel my enrolment?

If you cannot attend the session you have registered for, please cancel your registration from your Eventbrite account. You can do this by viewing order details and selecting ‘cancel order’ in your Eventbrite account. You should then re-register at a different session.

Is this training accredited?

Yes, completing this training will contribute 1 hour 45 minutes of NESA registered professional learning addressing standards 7.2.2 and 6.3.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Accreditation in NSW.

You must enter your name as registered with NESA and your NESA Account Number (Accreditation Number) when you register for this course on Eventbrite.
