About this Event

The Melbourne Performing Arts Academy in collaboration with the Piano Project and the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre is hosting their fourth annual Christmas Extravaganza online!

We are delighted to be partnering with the Piano Project in conjunction with Tempo Rubato as well as the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, with a portion of proceeds going towards sustaining their projects and towards our ongoing collaboration to provide accessible music education and free instrumental hire programs to students across the whole of Melbourne

There will be a wonderful silent auction, raffle and lots more - please make your bids here

We are hoping to have a live music festival throughout the day with roving performers in Merlynston throughout the day as well.

Please invite your friends and relatives to purchase tickets, even if they can't attend in person to support our school

All musical items must be submitted online via mymusicstaff by midnight, November 30, 2020

Here is a bit of information here about our school from a 'blog' perspective

Please get in touch if you have any raffle prizes to donate for our cause.

Piano project

Piano Project is a Melbourne charity that supports projects that provide access to music education. We work in partnership with Tempo Rubato, a live classical music venue in Brunswick.

During the pandemic, we have had to take a temporary break from organising piano lessons. We have, however, been busy behind the scenes, reflecting on the importance of sharing music and planning new ways to bring music lessons to children who mightn’t otherwise get them.

Piano Project gets much of its funding via Tempo Rubato. Tempo has of course been closed for most of this year. But we are all set to re-open for indoor concerts early in the new year, we are very excited about having live music in that space again, and we are optimistic that Tempo activities will start generating funds for the Piano Project very soon.

Piano Project also welcomes donations. We have gift recipient status from the Australian Tax Office and all donations over $2 are tax deductible. Before Tempo is in full flight again, donations are our only income and will fund our plans to restart music lessons. If you would like to contribute, you can make a donation here.

Founded 19 years ago, the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is Australia’s largest human rights organisation providing support to people seeking asylum.

They are an independent not-for-profit organisation whose programs support and empower people seeking asylum to maximise their own physical, mental and social well being.

They champion the rights of people seeking asylum and mobilise a community of compassion to create lasting social and policy change.

The ASRC movement is proudly supported by a community of committed volunteers and supporters.
