UWA Law School Online CPD Series: Charity Law Essentials - Dr Ian Murray

About this Event

Charities can potentially receive very material tax and other concessions and they profoundly impact society and many of the formative moments of our lives. Yet charity law has materially changed over the last decade. The purpose of this session is to provide all practitioners who come into contact with charities (and who doesn’t?) an overview of the following charity law essentials:

  • the charity sector in Australia;
  • the legal definition of "charity";
  • key tax concessions that accompany charity status;
  • applicable regulatory regimes; and
  • exposure to key areas of current controversy such as political campaigning, commercial activities and discrimination.

CPD Value: 1 CPD point in Competency Area 4: Substantive Law
