About this Event

Join hosts Louise Francis & Juliet Matskarofski (Wyndham City Gambling and Harm Minimisation Officers) for a presentation and discussion on the convergence of on-line video games and gambling.

The extent to which children and adolescents are being exposed to gambling and it’s normalisation is evident through the blurring boundaries of video games and gambling. This webinar is a great opportunity to learn more about how:

  • Technological innovations in video game product design are increasingly adopting similar images, sounds and actions to those used in electronic gambling machines.
  • The similarities between loot boxes (items in video games paid for with real money and containing randomised contents) and gambling are raising concerns about increases in gambling related harms amongst gamers.

This webinar is part of the Wyndham Learning Festival.

A direct link to the online platform (MSTEAMS) will be shared upon registration through Eventbrite.
