Growing a more profitable fruit business: Fruit Grower Information Session

Growing a More Profitable Fruit Business: Learning from Grower Benchmarks and Industry Leaders

Join Fruit Growers Tasmania for an informative and practical session designed specifically for Tasmanian apple and cherry growers who want to better understand the drivers of business performance and profitability.

The Fruit Grower Profitability Program supports growers to better understand the data they already collect, identify gaps, and use that information to improve productivity, profitability and resilience. Through benchmarking and specialist business support, growers gain practical insights into how their business is performing and where opportunities for improvement may exist.

At this session, you'll hear from Sarah McArley of AgFirst, who has been working closely with growers involved in the first round of the program. Sarah will share key insights from Cohort 1, explain how the benchmarking process works, and outline the support available to growers participating in Round 2.

Topics will include:

  • The key challenges currently facing Tasmanian apple and cherry businesses
  • What we have learned from growers participating in Cohort 1
  • What benchmarking involves and what data is required
  • How confidentiality is managed
  • What happens if your records are incomplete
  • How benchmarking results are presented
  • Practical examples of how benchmarking can support better business decisions
  • Specialist business support available through AgFirst
  • Opportunities to participate in Round 2 of the program

The session will also feature a special guest speaker who will share fresh perspectives on productivity, business performance and future opportunities for orchard businesses.

Who should attend?

  • Apple growers
  • Cherry growers
  • Existing participants in the Fruit Grower Profitability Program
  • Growers considering joining Round 2

The formal session will conclude with networking drinks, providing an opportunity to continue discussions with fellow growers, industry representatives and program partners.

This program is free for participants, and is delivered by Fruit Growers Tasmania and AgFirst, with support from the Tasmanian Government
