Over the summer, a series of unfortuate happenings trigger a financial crisis for a young woman and she soons finds her life falling apart. Wendy Carroll is traveling to Alaska with her dog, Lucy. She hopes to find work at a cannery on arrival. Unfortuately Wendy's car breaks down and with no money left for dog food she turns to shop lifting. After being caught by an overzealous store attendant and finding that Lucy has run away, Wendy feels her luck sliping away. This film is a timely portrait of lonliness and struggle.
